Burnt Paper Mirror

039

I wanted a new bathroom mirror to go with my new half bath makeover, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for.  So I decided to try the burnt paper look that I used for my wreath here.

Supply list

  • Frame
  • Paper
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Lighter (optional)

A thrifty little fame that I spray painted white.

021

This time I just used copy paper.

024

I cut it into circles using some zigzag scissors.

Then you just hot glue the little guys on.

After it’s all done, if you want you can burn the edges.

I used chocolate brown, for my new bathroom so I liked the burnt edges.  And no, I didn’t do the inner edge of the frame or the outer edge.  When it’s hanging up you can’t see them.

So this little mirror is going in our half bathroom that is mostly used by my five (well four really, the baby doesn’t use the bathroom yet) kids.  SO I’m really nervous about how it will hold up.  Most of the time there is water and soap sloshed all over the sink  and walls. So to combat that, I’m spraying it with this stuff (see below) to see it holds up. Fingers crossed! Unless anyone knows where I can get a force field??

And as you can see I haven’t finished it yet.  My lighter ran out of fuel.  And I have been to the store twice to get a new one and forgotten both times and I borrowed one from a friend and it was empty too.  Alas someday it will be finished…someday.

My husband thinks it’s too girly looking.

If you want to know this little project took me 3 hours, 13 glue sticks, 70 pieces of paper and a bowl of peanut M&M’s.  Okay no M&M’s were harmed in the making of this frame but looking back it would have made it better.

New Supply List

  • Peanut M&M’s non-negotiable (unless you have a peanut allergy, then YIKES please replace with regular M&M’s)
  • Frame
  • Paper
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Lighter (optional)

Oh my wow! I would probably burn the house down but what a great idea! And I definitely understand the importance of M&Ms in this process!

Hi Jaime,
I just smiled when I got your comment about linking your craft to the food blog. I know just what you mean, I get in a hurry sometimes to and its just ok. I have enjoyed looking at your mirror project. It looks like a great mirror. I really didn't want to delete it, so others could enjoy it to. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday and I look forward to your "great recipe" next week!
