Little Bow Tie

My little guy T is really good friends with Sharon’s little boy L over at This Thrifty House.  Sharon made her little guy a bow tie a while ago and my little guy has begged for one ever since.  So one Sunday when one of his old ties came apart I had  an idea to make it into a bow tie for him,  and finally today I did.  It was pretty easy to do and he is very excited to wear it to church on Sunday.

The Clip-on tie that lost its clip.  I loved this tie too, so I was so happy to have another use for it.

I cut a length of the tie and surged the two ends together.

Then I pinched it and with a needle and thread sewed the pucker into it.

Then wrap the thread all the way around the whole thing.

Luckily for me this tie I was using had the same color material on it to hold the old back tie part down.  I just cut that part off and used it to wrap around the middle of my new bow tie.

Then I would have loved to use the rest of the tie to make the neck part but I want to save it so someday I can make a matching bow tie for baby M so I used black instead.  You just run it through the back of the loop that goes through the middle of the bow tie add some Velcro at the ends and your all done!

GO RAID YOUR HUSBANDS TIES AND MAKE ONE TOO!  I found a great teddy bear tie that I know my husband would NEVER wear but that would be great for my little Mr. T I can’t wait to do that one next!

YAY for Bow Ties!!! I love how this turned out!! I have a bunch of these broken ties in my sewing pile waiting for the same transformation! Seeing yours all done--makes me want to go dig them out and get them done. :O)

The pattern and color are so festive! This is so cute. I wish my husband wore ties. Of course, then I'd need a son instead of a daughter. Maybe this project just isn't for me. But I can still ooh and ahhh over it!!
